Temporary HGV Class II Driver - Annualised Hours Contract

At Home Hardware Scotland Ltd we pride ourselves in the outstanding level of customer service we provide to our customers and suppliers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. As a HGV Class II Driver you are the face of our company when delivering to our customers or collecting from our suppliers.

  • Uplift goods and paperwork from the warehouse for delivery to the appropriate retail premises.
  • Working with due care for the safety of the goods and any staff helping.
  • Unload the goods at the destination, safely and with due regard for the safety of any other staff who may be helping and any members of the public who may be in the vicinity of the unloading area of the street at the time of unloading.
  • Deliver carefully any paperwork to the office of the retail premises in a clean and dry state.
  • Uplift any goods from the retail premises that need to be returned or transferred.
  • Put any returned items in the predetermined area requested by the Faulty Goods Manager.
  • Uplift any pallets, cages and green boxes from the shops you are delivering to.
  • Uplift any polythene, cardboard, wood, metal and recyclable waste that has to be returned to the warehouse.
  • Only accept waste which has been correctly sorted and clearly identifiable for recycling.
  • All waste must be safely and neatly packed into a cage, one cage per waste type.
  • Good housekeeping throughout the lorry and warehouse at all times.
  • All paperwork MUST be completed clearly and accurately.
  • You must hold a current licence to operate any LPG or electric lifting equipment which you intend to use with Health and Safety being adhered to at all times.
  • All queries must be referred to your Transport Manager or Faulty Goods Manager.
  • Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with the training instructions.
  • Carry out any other tasks as required from time to time by the Management Team.
  • Insure all general and recyclable waste is managed in accordance with the waste procedure.
  • All Health & Safety matters in accordance with the company’s Health & Safety Policy Document.
  • All Fire Safety matters in accordance with the company’s Fire Action Plan.
  • HGV Class II Driver Licence.
  • Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card.
  • Digital Tachograph Driver Smart Card.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Good time keeping.
  • High level of personal hygiene.
  • Comply at all times with the company dress code.
  • Flexible in the hours you are able to work.
  • Good communication skills.

Working Hours
This is annualised hours contract that will be 1040 hours between April and 30th September 2021. These hours will be worked between Monday to Friday. With the possibility of it being made permanent after this period.
